Florida Power and Light, Plans to Cast Light on Florida Witha a New Plant.

FPL is arranging plans to build a new nuclear power plant. While this kind of proposal will share mixed-emotions, the only concern notable in the story was from a pro-environment spokesperson stating that FPL needed to construct a plan to rid of the current power plant waste.

My note to this article is to the journalists. Why is a pro-environmentalists doing the most investigative journalism on the topic? For such a serious and monumental addition to the state, it seems quite obvious the questions that should be asked.

Such as: the negative side of building a new power plant, how much nuclear power do we have? What other kinds of power could we use? What about electricity, water, or wind? It seems like the tough questions were passed up to deliver a story. A good story that was informative for the year 2009 when they plan to break ground, but in the 3 years of standby, it would be nice to see a few journalists ask some pertinent questions.
